Suna Bonometti
Bonometti describes her designs as reinterpretations of the elements that move her – from the subtle ripple of water to the bold presence of a beautifully shaped nose. Through her practice, Bonometti transforms these familiar shapes into unexpected geometries, aiming to spark a smile and evoke a sense of joy. Bonometti’s earrings are distinct for their dynamic posts, another detail owed to the artist’s technical skill.
Bonometti studied Jewelry Silversmithing at London Metropolitan University, and has attended residencies at Haystack Mountain School of Craft and Penland School of Craft. Bonometti’s collections began with metal fabrication, allowing her to achieve sharper, more architectural forms. Over the years, however, she developed a deep passion for wax carving, embracing the lost-wax casting process to bring her shapes to life with a more organic, intuitive touch. Bonometti draws inspiration from many sources, but if she had to name just a few, Art Deco, Almodóvar films, and the pattern of ocean waves would top the list. Originally from Italy, Bonometti is currently based in Ridgewood, Queens.
