Vershali Jain Jewelry
Painting with enamels and sketching in wire, Vershali Jain creates jewelry that strikes a balance between the delicate and playful. Drawing on her deep interest in traditional Indian design by connecting those motifs to her ever-changing surroundings, Jain is able to cultivate an artistic practice that channels the entirety of her dual identity.
Jain centers experimentation with liquid process vitreous enamels on sterling silver in her practice. Beginning with wire and thin strips of metal sheet wrapped and coiled into voluminous linear forms, hot process liquid enamel then binds the metal elements together as a structural element, while also adding the color that creates the final vibrant piece.
Jain was born in Udaipur-India and notes how, in both form and pattern, Indian textiles and architecture tend to always find their way into her work. Jain later earned her Master’s in Jewelry and Silversmithing from Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland, and joined Brooklyn Metal Works in 2013. Jain is currently based in the San Francisco Bay area, California.
