Amulets taking the form of a fly were worn in ancient Egypt, a means of both safeguarding and empowerment. This brooch is inspired by the ancient cultures that held a deep reverence for animal imagery as symbols of the divine.
With silver tubes, Guillen constructs a fly adorned with intricate floral blooms, calling upon these amulets believed to imbue the owner, living or dead, with certain protections.
