Current Obsession Magazine is an independent publication discussing contemporary jewelry in the context of today’s visual culture. Each issue revolves around a specific subject, examining it from standpoints of various disciplines. We collaborate with a range of designers, artists, photographers and writers to create delicious exclusive content.

#2 Youth Issue /AW – 2013/ discusses intensely charged subject of youth that has a personal meaning to all of us. Youth is an elusive, intangible moment between the babbling childhood and self-reflexive rest: a dream, a failure, an expectation, a change and a future. Current Obsession pursues the subject by means of collective discussions, series of interviews and editorial collaborations.

#5 Vernacular Issue / 2016 / Every day we choose to wear jewellery. We stand in front of the mirror and pick up the one piece we know will work with that particular outfit, the occasion, the message we want to send out into the world. Every morning we choose to make a statement… without words. This subtle system of communication, known as jewellery, has been used for centuries, and is being used today, at this moment, right now.

Meet the Artist
Edgar Mosa

Moving from Lisbon to Amsterdam to Detroit to New York City opened Edgar to a world of diversity. The instant infusion of newer culture into his Portuguese sensibilities created a pluralistic point of view from which he draws much of his artistic expression.

After graduating with an MFA, he began to create jewelry collections with strong ideas about fashion and art that embody distinct personalities, while developing sculptural works and campaigns that cement his fine and witty aesthetic. Each piece is a balance of culture, art, fashion and Edgar’s own identity.
